Instructor at SPS:
Heather Leach
Heather (Chapman) Leach is a Licensed Coach with Equine Canada and Level 2 Certified Centered Riding instructor with over 27 years of experience.
Heather began riding at the age of 7, and was heavily involved in pony club from a young age, gravitating to the discipline of Dressage. At the age of 16 Heather began teaching at a local riding stable to help impart her wisdom on young riders. She realized she had found her calling in teaching others how to ride.
In 1997 Seven Pines Stables began its operations in Oakwood. Heather began running summer camp and lessons at her family farm, while she was completing her Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Guelph.
In 2004 Heather and husband Mike purchased the farm from Heather's parents and the business was in full swing offering Lessons, Boarding, Training and Sales and Heather made Seven Pines Stables her full focus.
Heather has had the incredible opportunity to be a part of many facets of the horse world. Her family bred, raised and imported Shire draft horses from England. She was able to show them on the line, drive them in harness, at such venues as the CNE and Royal Winter Fair. Heather also spent many years breeding Canadian warmbloods, having up to 5 broodmares of her own foaling each year. She then spent the time starting and training and eventually selling the young stock. Heather had many young horses showing at lower levels but had one lovely Oldenburg mare that she took to 4th level.
Heather has had the opportunity to teach many riders over the years watching some grow into competition coaches, running their own businesses, others carrying on with their love and passion of horses.
Anyone that has met Heather, been taught by her, or competed with her knows how passionate and committed she is to her business and the equestrian sports.
