Instructors of SPS:
Heather Leach

Heather (Chapman) Leach is a Level 2 Certified Centered Riding instructor and has been teaching for over 25 years. She has experience in many aspects of the horse world from showing gold level dressage, judging at both light and draft horse shows, and breeding and training both warmblood and draft horses.
Heather started riding at age 7 and got her first pony at 8. A member of the Oshawa Pony Club for 11 years, she competed in club events and at local fairs. Her parents moved to Seven Pines when Heather was 10 and she has looked after the horses ever since. At age 12 she became interested in dressage which has been her showing focus since then.
The family started breeding Canadian Sport Horses in 1988 and then added Shire drafts to their breeding stock. Heather then learned how to show and drive the draft horses and competed at the CNE, Royal Winter Fair and various local fairs, showing young stock in breeding classes, competing in showmanship, and driving both single and team in the junior classes.
Knowing she wanted to make a career out of teaching and training at her own equestrian centre, Heather attended the University of Guelph and graduated with her Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1999. She then returned home to the family farm and started Seven Pines Stables at the current location in Oakwood.
Heather married Mike in 2000 and they now own and operate Seven Pines Stables as a full service boarding and lesson facility.
